Café Sprinkle is an event series by Joys and Toronto-based writer & artist baker @spool__oven (Claire Geddes Bailey).
Events in this series combine a cake tasting by a artist baker with readings on the topic of cake or dessert, ushering audiences into an indulgent experience of flavour and language.
Our first event featured readings by Amy Ching-Yan Lam and EJ Kneifel, who led an experiental rock-cake making exercise, and a cake by girl.food (Kees Cleveland), all based in Tkaronto/Toronto.
About the cake:
Spicy ginger meringue on gluten-free corn chiffon cake, with saffron custard & sweet and salty macerated peaches, decorated with mugwort, red bean & salted cherry leaf mochis, nori shreds, pepitas, candy pearls and flowers.
