Virtue, faith, suspense, forbearance, boredom—the vast quiet that amounts to perseverance. Patience is an exhibition in dialogue with the many inflections of time’s protracted passing. We perceive time differently depending on our circumstances, emotions, and bodies. Whether we are confronted with distraction, disorder, disease or despair, the moments where patience feels impossible are often, stubbornly, the times it would be the most soothing.

Joys’ programming for 2025 was enveloped by Patience, a 5-month exhibition between May and October. Further installations, artist projects, events, and texts to came as time unfurled.
